After Egypt, I had planned to get home to the States, but first went all the way back to Kuala Lumpur and rested for a couple of days. In part, I was taking advantage of a rare window for being able to use frequent flier miles on Singapore Airlines, but another part of me just wanted to go back and “say goodbye” to Asia.
KL was a great place to do that, as I’ve always loved its food and find its architecture to be modern and developing. I had some favorite foods, wandered the city and rested up before making the long trip home, via Singapore, Moscow and Houston. It was one 36-hour trip.
Including the initial trip to Easter Island that began this crazy adventure, I have been traveling for almost nine months. To sum it all up, I’ll borrow from MasterCard and say:
Countries visited – 32, including a couple that were more drive-by than visit
Books read – 40, sadly, I can only recommend a quarter of them
Miles flown – 101,626, equal to four times around the world. For the airplane geeks, here is a map of my flights.

Chance to fulfill multiple life dreams – priceless.
And one final thought – Paul Simon’s Graceland is the greatest travel music album ever.
